B+W are delighted to have recently completed our contract as part of the extensive refurbishment at the Barrhead Foundry, East Renfrewshire. As part of the refurbishment remit, B+W were responsible for the removal of the existing filtration plant and chemical systems for both the main and learner pools. Following the removal of the old plant, we installed new steel filters for both filtration systems. We were also responsible for all new circulating pipe work, pumps and the electrical control panel with all associated cabling and wiring. Included within the upgrade was to provide all pumps with the advantage of being controlled by variable speed drives (VSD’s), a new enhancement in technology from the old system. Along with the above an Electro Chlorination System was supplied and installed by B+W. Electro chlorination is a safe, reliable and efficient method for the on-site generation of dilute sodium hypochlorite, reducing the cost of chlorination and eliminating the need for hazardous chemicals transportation, handling and storage. These systems generate a non-hazardous sodium hypochlorite solution using, salt, water and electricity. B+W worked successfully alongside Renfrewshire Council, in conjunction with main contractor, Fleming Builders Ltd. All parties are delighted to see the completion of this project being made within the allocated time frame, with the facility now reopened for the people of Barrhead and the surrounding area.
