B+W are delighted to have recently completed our contract as part of the extensive refurbishment at the Riverside Swim + Health Centre in Dunoon. As part of the refurbishment remit, B+W were responsible for the removal of the existing filtration plant for the 25m main pool, 20m teaching pool and spa, which included all pipework, pumps, filters and spa equipment. Following the removal of the old plant, we installed new bobbin wound filters for all pools. Each of the upgraded filters within the systems benefit from advance filter media (AFM). We were also responsible for all new circulating pipe work, pumps and electrical control panels with all associated cabling and wiring. All filtration pumps have the advantage of being controlled by variable speed drives (VSD’s). Along with the above an Electro Chlorination System was supplied and installed by B+W. Electro chlorination is a safe, reliable and efficient method for the on-site generation of dilute sodium hypochlorite, reducing the cost of chlorination and eliminating the need for hazardous chemicals transportation, handling and storage. These systems generate a non-hazardous sodium hypochlorite solution using, salt, water and electricity. B+W worked successfully alongside Argyle and Bute Council, in conjunction with John Brown (Strone) Ltd, main contractors, and completed this project within the set time frame. David Campbell, Snr. Duty Officer for Argyll and Bute Council said, “... Barr + Wray had an engineering team on site right up to the re-opening day to ensure the smooth operation of the plant at this busy time. The Barr + Wray team continue to be of assistance if the council’s management team need advice on any aspect of the plant works. The council was pleased with the outcome of the works and happy with the professional service provided by Barr + Wray.”
