The RAF Base Mount Pleasant was constructed in 1982 after the Falklands War and included a 20m lap pool designed and installed by B+W. 2007 saw the first major refurbishment of the filtration and water treatment plant carried out by a 6 man team from B+W Glasgow. The refurbishment included filter repairs and media replacement along with the rewiring of the plant room and the installation of a new control panel. The 25 year old ozone plant was also replaced with a Hanovia UV system. All of the above works were carried out over a 15 day period including two days travel from the UK to the Falklands with a brief stop over in the Ascension Islands a total round trip of 16,000 miles.
