Barr + Wray has proudly enjoyed a relationship with RAC Pall Mall for over 25 years, and we are now delighted to have been appointed to refurbish and upgrade the pool filtration plants, sauna, and hammam.
Home to a beautiful Grade II listed swimming pool and Turkish Baths, RAC Pall Mall will see the current filtration plant replaced with a modern, energy-efficient Liqtech Ceramic Micro Filtration system – significantly reducing water and energy usage while providing best-in-class water quality.
The Royal Automobile Club was founded on 10 August 1897 as the Automobile Club of Great Britain and Ireland. Originally headquartered at Whitehall Court, it moved to its current Grade II listed home at 89-91 Pall Mall in 1911. Designed by the architects of The Ritz, Charles Mewès and Arthur Davis, the magnificent clubhouse was built on the site of the old War Office.
The Club’s swimming pool and Turkish Baths are among London’s most exquisite heritage leisure spaces. Opened in 1911, the pool features stunning Byzantine-style mosaics, marble pillars, and soft natural light from vaulted ceilings. Originally a male-only sanctuary for Edwardian members, this warm, atmospheric gem remains a breathtaking centrepiece of the club today.
