Erdington Leisure Centre is the first of three leisure centre's to be opened as part of Birmingham City Council's £40 million investment programme. The brand new £7.5 million facility features a 25-metre swimming pool, teaching pool and a health club with a 70-station gym floor and group exercise space, alongside changing facilities and community rooms.
B+W was responsible for the design, supply, install and commissioning of the 25-metre, 6-lane main and learner pool filtration systems. Following the completion of Erdington, we will go on to work again alongside ISG as the main contractors on the new Stechford and Northfield Leisure Centre’s to designs by Calderpeel Architects.
All three centre's will be managed by Birmingham Community Leisure Trust (BCLT) on behalf of the council, with the Erdington centre being operated in partnership with Serco Leisure.
Ahead of the opening on 4th September, BCLT Chair, Brian Taylor said, “I‘m very proud to hand over such a high quality, purpose built facility to our community and I invite everyone, whatever their age and whatever sport they enjoy, to take the opportunity to come and use this brilliant new centre.” Birmingham City Council’s Deputy Leader Cllr Ian Ward added, “I am delighted that our residents in Erdington and the surrounding area now have a brand new leisure centre - ahead of schedule - and I thank our partners for working with us to provide cost effective and modern facilities.”
