B+W is delighted to have recently completed their works at Wick Community Campus. The facility - which was delivered by hub North Scotland in partnership with Morrison Construction - has replaced the existing Wick High School, South Primary and Pulteneytown Academy Primary Schools.
B+W was responsible for the design, supply install and commissioning of the 25-metre, 6-lane main pool and toddler pool with their associated filtration water treatment systems. The main pool incorporates an 8.5-metre movable floor allowing variable depths from 0–2.3-metres deep. Both pools were also fitted with automatic pool covers, for optimum heat retention. The innovative campus, designed by Highland Council and Ryder Architects, hosts two senior teaching wings as well as a separate primary school. It also offers a special needs wing, sports block, library, and fitness suite alongside three sports pitches. Incorporated within the fitness suite B+W were responsible for the design, supply, install and commissioning of a sauna and steam room.
A procession of 400 people opened the new campus on Wednesday 26th April 2017 to pupils and the wider community. The procession was led by two bagpipers and involved children and teaching staff of the newly combined schools. Starting at Wick’s old Pulteneytown Academy, those involved followed the bagpipers on the walk through the town up to the new building.
