Following our completion of Erdington Leisure Centre in September 2017, Stechford is the second leisure centre to open as part of Birmingham City Councils £40 million investment programme.
The £9 million centre has replaced the old Stechford Cascades facility in east Birmingham. The new centre provides the community with a gym, inclusive of all the latest cardio resistance kit and dedicated free weights area, a 25-metre pool and separate dedicated teaching pool, a varied group exercise programme, and 4-court sports hall with modern changing facilities throughout. B+W was responsible for the design, supply, install and commissioning of the filtration systems for both the 25-metre main pool and learner pool (13m x 7m). The centre is owned by Birmingham City Council and operated by Birmingham Community Leisure Trust (BCLT). Ahead of the opening on 9th January 2018, BCLT chair, Brian Taylor, said, “We look forward to welcoming residents throughout the community to a fabulous, modern building which will encourage young and old to choose healthy lifestyles and have fun too!”
We were delighted to work once again alongside main contractors ISG and Calderpeel Architects and look forward to the completion of the third leisure centre in this investment programme – Northfield Leisure Centre.
