B+W is delighted to have worked alongside Hobson and Porter on the long-awaited refurbishment at Woodford Leisure Centre in Hull. The aim of the refurbishment is to provide a modern, first class facility to the area for families and people of all ages to enjoy.
The centre has undergone an extensive face lift - creating a new front to the building which used to house a car park but is now home to a learner pool and a 25-metre, 6-lane swimming pool, with full disability access. As well as the new pools, the complex also boasts top of the range gym facilities, a sauna and steam room and a café. We were responsible for the new filtration water treatment systems for both pools. The systems benefit from medium rate sand filtration, chlorine for disinfection, pH control and UV sterilisation.
However, despite the new look, the centre’s most popular features including the slides and wave pool are there to stay. Ahead of the opening in May 2018, Councillor Stephen Brady, leader of Hull City Council, said, "The investment into Woodford will secure its long-term future as a top swimming and leisure facility and put it up amongst some of the best in the region, providing a top-class offer to the people of Hull."
