Slough’s new flagship leisure facility, The Centre, has recently opened on Farnham Road.
The Centre build was undertaken by Slough Urban Renewal (SUR), a partnership between Slough Borough Council (SBC) and Morgan Sindall Investments Ltd, which is driving regeneration across the town. Everyone Active, the council’s leisure partner, will be running The Centre along with all of the other leisure facilities in Slough.
It is part of the ‘Get Active’ strategy, which the council said would, "get more people, more active, more often." Councillor Rob Anderson said: "Our leisure options in Slough are now second to none.”
B+W was contracted for the main and learner pool filtration water treatment plant, as well as the construction of both pools using Myrtha technology – providing many benefits over traditional concrete pools.
The Centre has an eight lane 25-metre swimming pool, a learner pool, poolside sauna and steam room, 4-court sports hall, fitness suite, changing facilities, café and treatment rooms. The learner pool (15m x 10m) also has a full movable floor by Variopool, allowing the client to target a variety of users as the pool depth can vary to suit different activities.
