Set in Woodhead Park, this leisure centre replaces the old community swimming pool which closed in 1996 and now encompasses a wide range of facilities including pools, thermal cabins, a fitness suite, studio, sports hall, conference services and café. Additionally, the park also houses a children’s play area, four five-aside football pitches, and two tennis courts, all floodlit.
The centre opened its doors to the public on 27th July 2007.
B+W was responsible for the design, supply, installation and commissioning of the filtration and water treatment plants, and the construction of the 6-lane main pool (25m x 12.5m) and the teaching pool (11m x 8m) using the Myrtha pre-engineered modular stainless steel pool system. b+w also supplied and installed a sauna and steam room.
This project continues B+W’s long relationship with East Dunbartonshire Council, which began in 1993 with the refurbishment of the Leisuredome Leisure Centre in Bishopbriggs.
