The £6.5 million sports-science Olympia building houses modernistic teaching and research facilities, including a cutting-edge sports-science facility with a hydrotherapy pool, advanced anatomy, strength and conditioning laboratories, with a sports therapy area opening later in 2010.
Features included in the purpose built training pool are; three Badu countercurrent swim jets, a Fastlane countercurrent swim unit and two underwater treadmills.
Dr Henderson from the university said in a statement: “The new state-of-the-art hydrotherapy pool will ensure our sports therapy students will have access to facilities only rivalled by Manchester United and Chelsea FC. They will come away from university being familiar with the best equipment there is.”
The pools at Manchester United FC and Chelsea FC were also installed by B+W.
B+W was responsible for the design, supply, installation and commissioning of the Myrtha hydrotherapy pool, filtration and water treatment plants and hydro training equipment.
