B+W is delighted to have been involved in the long planned development of this leisure centre which will assist the cultural renewal of Romford.
Working alongside Willmott Dixon as the main contractors for the £25 million flagship Romford ice rink and swimming pool complex, B+W was responsible for the design, supply, install and commissioning of the 8-lane competition swimming pool and 15-metre learner pool filtration systems. The leisure centre will also be home for the local ice hockey team, London Raiders, who will return to the facility for training and home matches to take place at the new ice rink (56m x 26m).
Residents and visitors are invited to the grand opening of the leisure centre on 3rd February 2019, where Dancing on Ice champion and former X-Factor contestant Ray Quinn will take to the ice to perform. Everyone Active’s area contract manager Steve Cox said, “It is a fantastic facility that will have a really positive impact on the local community, and I hope that Ray will help to inspire more people to give skating a try.”
Guests will get to enjoy a day packed of activites such as skating sessions, family fun swims and exercise sessions. The open day will also see the Raiders return to play their first game there since April 2013.
Cabinet member for culture and community engagement Councillor Melvin Wallace added, “The health and wellbeing of our residents is a priority for the council and this facility is great for the future of sport and leisure in Havering.”
