Willowbank, the new school development in Grassyards Road in Kilmarnock has just opened. The SEN School will house pupils of the former Woodstock and Witchhill schools in a modern learning environment built on the site of the former Park School. Pupils and staff at the Kilmarnock school were delighted to move into their superb £11.5 million accommodation entirely geared to the needs of the young people.
It will provide education for up to fifty primary and secondary pupils with complex additional support needs. There will be ten classrooms, plus special activity rooms for art, music and life skills, as well as a sensory therapy pool with with colour-changing lights and medical suite.
Starting on site in 2011 and commissioning in June 2013, B+W worked alongside Mansell Construction on the project to design, supply and commission the filtration and water treatment systems for the Myrtha hydrotherapy pool (8.6m x 5.5m), complete with movable floor with a variable depth of up to 1.5-metres. Features in the pool include body massage jets and finger jets.
