Millwood School - a £9.1 million education project by Bury Council - replaces an existing nearby facility built on a 2.3 hectare site, formerly the grounds of the recently closed Radcliffe High School.
Providing specialist support and services for children aged between 0 and 11 enables the assessment of education, health, therapy and social care to be as effective as possible.
The Myrtha hydrotherapy pool (8m x 5m x 1.2m) was designed, installed and commissioned by B+W. Millwood School includes a range of other purpose-built facilities including a sensory room and carefully designed outdoor space.
B+W was responsible for the design, supply, installation and commissioning of the pool, associated filtration and water treatment plant, and balance tanks. The pool shells are constructed using the pre-engineered stainless steel Myrtha system.
The water treatment plant includes provision for retrofitting UV units as a primary means of disinfection should it ever prove necessary as a result of higher than expected bathing loads.
